JOSE MUNOZ
VP OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND MARKETING CHIEF
Jose M Muñoz is a public relations strategist with over 20 years of civic leadership experience. He has developed and led several local, state and national public education and community engagement campaigns using his unique blend of grass roots organizing, marketing tactics, and traditional & new media.
He is currently the Vice President of External Affairs and Chief Marketing Officer for Casa Central, where he is helping lead the organization’s sustainability and growth strategy. Prior to joining Casa Central, Jose was the President and Chief Strategist of Pangea Strategy Group; an independent consulting firm specializing in helping organizations maximize their social impact. Jose has designed and led social impact initiatives on health, education, housing, immigration, civic engagement and violence prevention, including #IncreaseThePeace a citywide initiative to engage youth in violence prevention efforts in Chicago. Previously, Jose served in the Illinois Governor’s Office as Chief Marketing Officer for the state’s Health Insurance Marketplace and also served as Deputy Commissioner for the City of Chicago’s Department of Public Health. He also led the public relations strategy for New Futuro, a national education effort to help get more Latino students into college and devoted over 10 years of his career advocating and developing programs for persons with disabilities.
The son of Mexican immigrants and a native of Chicago, Jose was the first in his family to obtain a degree from an institution of higher learning. He graduated summa cum laude, with a 4.0 GPA, from Chicago State University’s College of Business with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Jose is also a University of Chicago Civic Leadership Academy Fellow and a U.S. Mentor with the European Professional Fellows Network.
